Alone

Maybe the shallow waters in my dreams, are only shallow just to me,
perhaps in a wakened reality, I drown in that great sea,

a happenstance of whirlwinds, an earthquake, magnitude unknown,
an atom bomb of realization that I am better off alone,

when just the smallest touch is my everything, and a smile is life and death,
and the air I breathe will never be as sweet, as when we kiss and share a breath.

Alone, sacrificed for the greater good, for your happiness,
I sink to the bottom of that darkened sea, into that sweet abyss,

If ever you choose to think of me, just close your eyes my love,
and know that in that darkened sea, I look to you above.

Maybe it's tomorrow and I forgot about today,
caught up in what might have been, A child of yesterday,
A follower of a religion with a temple long ago burned down,

a sin never quite forgiven, with no confession to be found.
Within her being, grace, and within that grace I find,
that she'll always be a part of me, even if I never get the time,

For time it will not stand in stone, nor wait for me to call,
and I cannot ask for a helping hand, when I'm destined here to fall.

Alone, sacrificed for the greater good, for your happiness,
I sink to the bottom of that darkened sea, into that sweet abyss,
If ever you choose to think of me, just close your eyes my love,
and know that in that darkened sea, I look to you above.

These shallow waters cover me, and their depths deceive me so,
as I struggle with the current and it drags me deep below.
An ocean of possibilities, on a beach of scattered dreams,
This atom bomb of realization, of what was never meant to be.
