MaskOfHappinessSoulOf Despair

Rosalina was 13 years old when her father was shot in a drive by. She ran to my house at midnight when her mother passed out from being drunk. I still don't know how she ran a mile and a half blinded by tears. She pretty much threw herself at my door. When I opened my door she landed in my arms still sobbing heavily against my chest. I picked up the light little girl and cradled her in my arms and sat down on my couch. She spent a good half hour before she told me what happened. The poor girl's voice was shaky and very quiet that If you took a breath you could have missed something. "Daddy and I went to the bronx and suddenly a guy in a 09 mercedes benz shot my dad and left. I got out of the car and ran home and... [Read More]

Broken Up

I remember a boy. I remember a boy with bright blue eyes rimmed with dark, heavy eyelashes. I remember a boy with feathery kisses and soothing hands. I remember another boy. I remember me. I remember my sparkling green eyes and plump lips. I remember my flaws and faults. I remember my willingness. "God, you're so gay," he'd whisper teasingly in between kisses. "Yeah, gay for you," I'd reply, breathless from the work his hands were doing underneath the covers. He solved my problems, my secret anger management issues. He'd stroke my back calmly and whisper in my ear how much he loved me until my breathing evened out. He made sure I wouldn't hit anyone else with no reason. And because I loved him, oh-so-deeply with my heart attached to his, I obeyed. I behaved myself and ignored what others said, even if they tried to provoke me. All... [Read More]

There once was a child named Hope, and she was in the 3rd grade. Hope always was a happy child...she was kind to others, loved life and got very good grades. One day she walked in on her mother on the edge of her bed crying, and asked her what had happened. Her mom looked at her and patted the place next to her. Hope sat down and looked up at her mother wide-eyed and whispered softly, "What happened, Mama?" Her mom gently held Hope's hand and mumbled, "It's Daddy..." her mother suddenly burst out crying and hugged Hope. "Daddy got in a car accident, Baby...he didn't make it..." Hope didn't say anything...when her mother let go, Hope had a single tear streaming down her face. After that, Hope never talked to anyone at school, her grades went downhill and so did her happiness...finally at the age of 16, her... [Read More]

Once upon a time a man and a woman fell in love, got married, and had a kid. When she was three they divorced. This wasn't a big deal for her because it meant no more fighting and she still got to see them both. Time passed and the girl's dad remarried. A couple of years later they had a little girl with Down Syndrome. This wasn't a big deal because she wasn't a very serious case. Then her mom remarried and they had a little boy who was an absolute terror and was often left for the girl to take care of because her mom worked late and her step father was always away or being a terrible couch potato father. This too was okay. They moved away from her childhood home and switched schools leaving close friends she had had for six years. It was alright, she made... [Read More]

/-Mother's Mother I was sitting in my room after a day of normal school, and everything was fine, everything was normal. I heard my mother call me to her and I went to her as she stood in the hallway. She looked obviously upset, but I asked no questions so she could speak. "Grandma is in the Hospital." After that, she broke down covering me in her warm hugs. I was shocked, but I cried just for the sake of it. I felt at any time I could stop cry. I felt as if I wasn't told of what I heard. It didn't make sense, but days later we went to the Hospital, and went towards the ICU ward. We put on these yellow outfits and went in. There laid my Grandmother and my Grandfather sat beside her in a chair. I still felt nothing, but gave off a grim... [Read More]

What could have been...

"Enjoy life today, yesterday is gone and tomorrow may never come," he said as he tossed a pebble into the river. My reply? It was silence. It felt like I was now in a relationship with a stranger, the guy sitting beside me was no longer the Jayden I knew. Where was the smile he always put on every time he looked at me? The affectionate eyes that burned yielding unconditional love towards me? All that was replaced with a serene mask I could not read or figure out. It felt like I was now just another girl to him. My gut knew there was another girl, every sense of mine acknowledged her presence. Jayden barely could hold eye contact with me anymore. I knew he felt contrite about something and what else could it be than a girl in the shadows of our dying relationship. There are times I... [Read More]

These events happened when I was 15 and 16 so some events aren't as detailed as I would have liked them to be but I've tried to recall the events as best I could , thank you for taking the time to read this I truly appreciate it , even if you don't it feels better already writing it down. At the start of March 2013 my mum got a phone call from the army base , that means either two things . One my dad had died or two was seriously injured and was being sent back.He was stationed in Iraq and had served in the army for 15 years. So he was head commander in ground combat.Well it wasn't good news it was basically both of the two options. He had been shot four times by an enemy group on ground and was in critical condition , and... [Read More]

"I'll like to tell you a story… about a boy and a girl:" "The girl, she had a crush and she didn't leave so easily. To her, he was the only one who owned her heart. But to him… she was just another girl. One day, the girl asked his feelings towards her. He said said he did like her, but she didn't know whether it was love or friendship. She continued to adore him, she would sing a song that described everything or wrote one. She would be happy to say something to him, but she felt like a pest to him. Sometimes, she wished he'll ask a question to her before she would. Her nickname was something she hated being, but coming from him, she felt special. Later, her broken heart was getting ripped more and more. He ripped and stole pieces without realizing it. She wanted to... [Read More]
