Thorns

If only she knew,
If only he'd say,
The way he really felt that day,
He's too close now to let her go,

He really fills with joy,
As if a kid with a toy,
She's the only one who understands,
He's not that kind of boy,

Yet he's held down by another,
Much different from the others,
She holds him back from all he loves,
As if she were his mother,

The girl he truly loves,
Says be free like the doves,
Yet the other is like a thorn,
Bleeding him as he's torn
