The Exposed Heart

Lucille

The heart was ripped out of the chest,
And thrown onto the cold, cracked concrete.
The anguish and suffering showed detest,
And the pure neglect made the pain complete.

The heart had always been rejected and degraded,
Yet only while it lie vacant, could you see the disgust.
It had been clouded in constant hatred,
And it beat on shards of broken trust.

Now can you see the heavy relinquish,
That the heart tried so hard to restrain,
When it only had one murder-prone wish,
To pay back those who caused it pain?

But at this moment it only lies there on the cement,
With its repulsive, vile existence,
Going over the memories that torment,
In those last few dreadful moments.
