Through Tearing Eyes

The view here might be faded,
or at least in my eyes it seems,
perhaps I'm just jaded,
wide awake while others dream

the view of you; none other than a sight for eyes grown sore,
through tearing eyes discovered, the image of you was so much more.
not quite as I remember,
shaded with shame and doubt
far out of view from what we once knew,
seen through eyes, long since put out.

If we ever see each other,
the way God wants us to,
maybe then we'll discover a truly blessed view
but until memories fade away
and we close our eyes to fear
this view of you will have to do,
the one clouded by my tears

the view here might be faded,
or at least in my eyes it seems,
perhaps dreams are overrated,
sound asleep while others scream,

If we ever see each other,
the way God wants us to,
maybe then we'll discover a truly blessed view
a blessed view of one another,
instead of one through tears
a dry eyed misconception, of a future that's so clear.
