Preparation

I'm trying my best not to feel.
Numbing myself to prepare for hurt.
It's only temporary but it helps me deal,
But still I wonder, "what was it worth?"

All the opening up I did,
All the heartfelt things I said,
Maybe I should've kept everything hid,
Suffocate them until they're dead.

What would I do with these memories?
What can help me bury these?
Sorrowful songs & melodies?
Or an escape across mellow seas?

As I prepare, I hope I'm wrong
& I pray that we can carry on.
But I suppose very soon I would know.
If you're prepared to leave, I'm prepared to go.
