set me free

I wish I was traveling on a plane, somewhere distant and very far,
where we'd have no use for the landing gear,
and you couldn't get there by ship or car,

I wish out of the window that only clouds hung low,
and I wouldn't know how high or low we flew,
I could just sit right back in that seat of mine
and enjoy the mile high view,

I wish I was on a ship, headed out to sea,
where I was the captain alone at the helm,
no one but the ship, the water and me.
No life boats would be needed, for the waters always calm,

I'd spend the day up on the deck, sipping a drink beneath a plastic palm,
Or maybe just a drive out west, with the top down in the summer sun,

on the road to happiness, just looking for some fun.
no traffic on this road of mine, no stress behind the wheel,
just me and the road, carrying the load, of all this sadness that I feel
I wish this was my life right now, going somewhere I'd like to be,
but here I am, alone and damned, I pray for the Lord to just take me,

take me on that mile high flight, or that ship headed out to sea,
take me for a ride, off into the night, just please God set me free.
