everything happens for a reason

one night i went to a Halloween party at a friends house. at the time i was dating this guy named brian and i wasnt really into him so i planned on breaking up with him at the party. i saw this guy standing across the room and he was cute! i went up to him and struck up a conversation. he was much older than me, he was 18 and i was only 15 at the time. at the end of the night i broke up with my boyfriend and i got this other guys number. his name was patrick. the next day patrick and i couldnt stop texting. he even skipped school to come hang out with me cuz i didnt have school that day! he was a really sweet guy despite the age difference. when we decided to become more than friends we told our parents and my parents seemed happy about the decision but what i didnt know was that they really didnt like patrick. patrick and i continued to date anyways and we were together for almost an entire year when our relationship turned ugly. he stopped hanging out with me so much and started hanging out with my best friend more. i didnt really think it was a problem because i trusted both of them. but then i got a call when i was on vacation from a friend telling me that patrick just hooked up with my best friend. i called him right away and asked if it was true and he denied it. eventually i caught him cheating with my best friend and i broke up with him right away and stopped talking to my best friend. but the even sadder thing about this story is that my friend still continues to sleep with my ex's and hang out with patrick.
