my mother

kim

i was seven when i watched my mother drown in her own blood and mucus. four years before i was born, she had been diagnosed with lung cancer. she battled this horrible war for more than ten years before crashing and burning, eventually dying. cancer puts on an excellent poker face; just when you think you're better, you then are lying in some pathetic hole in the ground for eternity. just a month before she had died, she had actually been laughing and talking and she had even been out in the garden a little. sure, the chemo had made her loose all her hair and she looked like a zombie because she was so pale, but my dad was still so madly in love with her. in fact, i'd hear him cry every night before she left, and sometimes look into their room and see him kneeling besides their... Some boys

Clary Barns

17 Apr, 2016 02:23 AM

I wake up not ready to face another day, not ready to go to hell known as school, not ready to face him. I slowly stumble out of bed and into my bathroom, i look into the reflection to see a girl. She doesn't look like me. Her hazel eyes look tired and puffy, her blonde long hair looks flat and ugly, and her smile isn't there anymore, just a frown. I look away and undress myself. I step into the hot shower and stand there, letting the drops of water lightly burn my skin. I feel a tear fall from my eye as i think of what HE did. I turn the water off, wanting to forget about that. I make my way to get dressed and some how prepare for the day. I dressed in a pair of blue jeans, an old navy t-shirt and my converse. I... What could have been...

Christabelle Tanya

"Enjoy life today, yesterday is gone and tomorrow may never come," he said as he tossed a pebble into the river. My reply? It was silence. It felt like I was now in a relationship with a stranger, the guy sitting beside me was no longer the Jayden I knew. Where was the smile he always put on every time he looked at me? The affectionate eyes that burned yielding unconditional love towards me? All that was replaced with a serene mask I could not read or figure out. It felt like I was now just another girl to him. My gut knew there was another girl, every sense of mine acknowledged her presence. Jayden barely could hold eye contact with me anymore. I knew he felt contrite about something and what else could it be than a girl in the shadows of our dying relationship. There are times I... [Read More]

The Last Words Angel Fawn *I adapted this to fit more with my story, respects all paid to Angel Fawn!!!* It's been a while since I remembered him. My brother Chris was 16, he had lung cancer. He was growing weaker and weaker, he coughed and coughed and breathing was becoming hard for him. Very hard... He couldn’t stop coughing, (*cough, cough, cough*) the sweet sound of his voice swept out of his pain filled body, letting me hope. Hope that he’d live. The doctor’s had told us that he had months to live. I remember back when we were just kids. Mom took us out to the dandelion field behind our park and some kids were playing tag through the meadow. The light blowing through the air flew directly into our hearts. “Hey ugly,” one kid yelled. I looked up. “Yeah you ugly! You and your cripple brother!” Another... [Read More]

Not so sad

Clary Barns

08 Nov, 2016 11:20 PM

Another day, Another waist of my time. My mom is going on and on about how she and her boyfriend are fighting. Again. I lean back and yawn, stretching my arms out. I'm tired, I haven't gotten much sleep these past few days, cause all I hear is my mother yelling at her boyfriend. I get up and walk away, she is too busy talking to notice. My name is Amber,I am small, and have long black hair and ugly green eyes. I am 17 and live in Woodboorn, Virginia. You might not have heard of it, it's is infact a extremely small town. I am the nobody at my school. You know those cliche cliques, yeah well we have those. The popular, the nerds, the goths, the stoners and then there is me, the nobody who is friends with another nobody.I can already tell you think this story is... [Read More]

missing you

Jessica

22 Sep, 2010 03:24 AM

You were always there for me when I needed a hug. You never said a word; you would just sit there quietly, and listen to everything I told you. We always went for walks together to the park. You were so cute when you would fall asleep, I could always tell when you were having a good dream. You were the most amazing friend I could ask for, and now you?re gone. I?ll never forget you. When we?d go in the back yard and play tug a war, you always won though. I just wish you had more time; I would give anything to have you here right now, lying next to me having your sweet dreams. I always knew that day would come; when you?d no longer be here with me, but why did it have to end like that? You were in so much pain it hurt me... [Read More]

No biggie (kinda long)

Madeline

01 Jan, 2011 10:11 PM

Once upon a time a man and a woman fell in love, got married, and had a kid. When she was three they divorced. This wasn't a big deal for her because it meant no more fighting and she still got to see them both. Time passed and the girl's dad remarried. A couple of years later they had a little girl with Down Syndrome. This wasn't a big deal because she wasn't a very serious case. Then her mom remarried and they had a little boy who was an absolute terror and was often left for the girl to take care of because her mom worked late and her step father was always away or being a terrible couch potato father. This too was okay. They moved away from her childhood home and switched schools leaving close friends she had had for six years. It was alright, she made... [Read More]

Sometimes, time doesn't give you "times", its just once. Now, close your eyes. Imagine your closest bestfriends, remember all of your bitter sweet moments, remember the first time you broken hearted, the first time you kissed, when you said 'i love you' to someone, when you said 'goodbye', when you said 'sorry' and 'thank you'. Now, let me tell ya something, all those moments not all of it could have happened again. Learn to appreciate everything you have or had. I had a bestfriend at elementary school, she's like my own sister. We shared everything like kiss and tell, she know the worst part of me, so was i. But by time everything start changing. Go to middle school, find new friends, and moving always be the hardest part. And i moved to another province, left her. Sometimes, i missed her. But, by then i get used to live my... [Read More]
