a man my age

They've made me lose you,
They now blame me for having
had abused you.
It's all a lie,
It's all untrue.

You know how it was like
the first day when I saw you.
The day I saw you holding
flowers and candles for the altar.
How I looked surprised when
you told me you aren't supposed
to hold.

But, you were holding them.
I'm not the one to judge but,
I thought you were making
the congregation ritually unclean.
It's not I but a verse from the
book of Deuteronomy.

I had thought you and I
could make a house a home.
That's if you know what I mean.
I don't have to use figures of
speech when I'm talking to you.

I saw a lot of young men running
away from your beauty.
And after I bravely approached you,
they all came after you and told
you how much they were in love
with you.

All that, at least happened in my absence but,
as a jealous man,
I thought breaking up with you will
make me forget about you.
But what I got in return was eternal pain.
A man my age is crying for you abnormally.
