Hammering Walls

Scarlett Enochian

I gripped the hammer
Hesitant to do it, but I still did
Those walls was where I hid
Where I knew my heart was safe
He wanted me to and so I did
Thinking it would make him happy
I forced myself

I watch as the stone crumbles
Turning into particles like sand
Every hit was painful
I was turning vulnerable
I was becoming defenseless
Once it all came down
That’s when I saw my mistake
From the start he was fake
But it was all too late
Dropping the hammer
I fell on my knees
As my tears appear
As our distance grows farther
And he disappears
