The Opposite of Chocolate

One moment is all it takes
For your world to topple over.
Head over heels.
And then, crash and burn.

Shame, regret, hope,
Agony, just plain agony.
A sinking feeling
That’s drowning you, filling your lungs with water and smoke.

You can’t breathe,
You can’t die,
And isn’t it funny, how every tear feels like it should be the last one?
But the endless ocean is never satisfied.

The injury is self-inflicted
And you tell yourself that you were the problem.
That you’re better off now and there’s so much more to life,
Fish in the sea, and all that.

But its a love that consumes you
And burns your insides
Till you wish you could wrench it out of your chest
And leave it to die on the footpath.

Happiness is a whore,
She’s such a fleeting thing.
She breathes in your ear and before you know it, you’re spreading your legs for her.
She can lure you into feeling, and then rape you.
