Love's Fate

One poor heart loved another
He treasured her every word
Cherished her every step
And indulged in her every touch
He loved her smile, her eyes, her heart
He wanted her forever

Their time together was limited
Every moment was timeless
He would ask her hand
In marriage, he thought
They would run away

He had a plan
"Meet me under our tree at dusk"
He whispered in her ear
He bought a ring
With his hard earned money
Of working day and night
Just for her

He dressed his best
Packed his things
Holding a wild flower in his hand
He got there on time
He waited for her

Dusk turned to dawn
"where is my love?"
His worrying voice broke down
And he shed a tear

Thant day turned into a year
And his love wasn't there
"Where are you my love?"
He said with dismay

Until one cold evening
He was blessed with luck
He saw her standing there
By the tree
All dressed up
It was the perfect time

He never let go of the ring
For he kept it always on him
She would finally get her surprise

He held her hand
Wanting to burst with joy
She looked at him
With teary eyes of green
"Why so sad my love?"

He was confused
"I'm getting married today, my love
But not to you..."

That was all she could say
Until she ran away
Leaving him hopeless
And gasping for breath

He dropped to his knees
His eyes drowning in tears
His heart shattered
The ring fell to the ground

It was now dusk
She belongs to someone else now
It is now dusk
Time for him to die
He tied a rope
To that sacred tree
And around his neck
The rope rested

As he jumped and ended his life
Leaving behind a note to his love:
"I love you, we will meet again in time"
She went to the tree
That faithful day
To tell her love, that she ran away

She left her family
And her husband to be
To be with her real love
Under that tree
But to her despair
She found her love, his note
And his swinging feet
Inches above the ground

She gasped for breath
And the ocean fell out of her eyes
As she wanted nothing more than to be with him
So with a sharp stone
She gashed her wrists
As she bled to death
Under her love
For they would soon meet again
Whether it be hell under
Or heaven above..
